The purpose of this blog is a clarion call to Christian Americans. In looking at blogs written by very intelligent and well-meaning Christians, I am alarmed at the stance many take that as Christians, we should not engage in the political arena and/or that we are called “to a more divine purpose.” What could be more divine than creating and maintaining a nation that honors God and spreads the good news to all the other countries in the world?
When I have expressed to Christian friends the importance of religious liberty and the Christianity of both the founders and the Constitution (which will be proven in future posts) I have often heard, “it is more important to witness to people and for the salvation of their souls.” In no way do I discount the significance of this truth. But I would posit that if Christians do not become engaged in the political arena, we will lose the ability to witness to others.
This is not hyperbole. We are watching an erosion of our God-given, inalienable right to religious liberty. A list of atrocities that have been perpetrated by our government can be found in a book David Barton wrote in 2011 called “Original Intent.” Since the publication of this book, we have seen an even more brazen stripping of our first amendment as the LGBTQ agenda has attacked both our religious liberty and the right to free speech (this protects not only what you say, but also protects us from a government that would compel us to speech antithetical to our conscious before God.)
The following video is from 2006, wherein a valedictorian’s mic was cut when she began speaking about Jesus Christ. It is interesting upon watching this to note the reaction of the students when this brave young woman was escorted off the stage.

Many good Christians have been duped into the “separation of church and state” myth. In this blog, I will unpack the actual meaning of this “clause” (which appears nowhere in our Constitution, nor in any of the debates at the Federal Convention.)
Equally egregious to our liberties is the revisionist history that declares our founders to be made up primarily of deists, and that they believed God does not superintend the human condition. Nothing could be farther from the truth as I will show in future posts for if one consults the actual writings of the founders, they will be inspired by the fire for Jesus many of them had in their hearts. I will also show that America is a nation that God brought into existence so that we would know external freedom as well as the internal freedom of being saved.
It is vital that as Christians, we educate ourselves and engage in the political arena. One need merely look around at the moral deterioration of our times and see the effect of “kicking God to the curb.” There have been many policy decisions and court rulings that would never have taken place had Christians attended to their civic duty and privilege of active engagement in their own governance. In 1787 the Constitutional Convention had concluded it’s business, Benjamin Franklin came out of a door to witness a crowd eager to know the outcome of the meeting. A woman asked him, “Well, doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” To which he replied, “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”
What did that mean? It means that our government was specifically knit together with Godly principles of external and political freedom, but with that freedom comes responsibility. We must be ever vigilant in our involvement in the public arena, and it is incumbent upon each Christian to be actively involved in this nation that He has given us.
Through this blog I will explain in greater detail the duty of the Christian in public affairs, and I will share many things that you can do to get involved, depending on your comfort level. Another purpose of my writing is to illuminate America’s rich past and why it is so important that we know the true history of this, the greatest nation on earth.
